FAQ and Getting Started
We recommend you wear something you don’t mind running around in and bringing some water for hydration. There is no expectation that you bring any costumes, equipment, or prior knowledge of the game with you.
At Granite Spyre, we take safety seriously. Our park adheres to strict weapon design and construction rules as outlined by Amtgard, which helps minimize the risk of injury during gameplay. Rest assured, our community members have a great track record of playing safely and responsibly.
While reading the rules could help a lot, we don’t expect you to have looked at them before showing up.
Feel free to arrive knowing nothing at all, just bring your fun loving attitude!
We do all of our organizing and communicating through Facebook. It should be regarded as the authoritative location for knowledge involving Granite Spyre.
You can find us at Ray Miller Park every Sunday from 1pm until we get tired.
You are welcome to bring your children to the park! That said, participants are required to be ages 14 and older to participate in battlegames (the actual fighting).
The easiest way to start is to just show up. Bring some water and a friend and we will teach you the rules, get you into some loaner gear, and get you playing Amtgard in no time.

No! As a matter of fact, we can teach you how to make your own garb or share some great places to buy it.
No! As a matter of fact, we can teach you how to make your own equipment or some great places to buy it. There is a solid chance that any gear you buy or make before coming out won’t meet our safety standards.
There is more to Amtgard than fighting. We have a strong crafting community and fun social components to be excited about.
Not only that, we are just plain fun to hang out with.
